ABOUT US...
WHO IS BEHIND DISABILITYGUIDE.ORG?
Russ Holt, a 1994 graduate of American University with a B.A in Sociology,
has a long history of being active in the Maryland / Washington D.C /
Virginia community. Born in Washington, D.C in 1968 he grew up in Potomac,
Maryland and now lives in the small Montgomery County town of Boyds.
Partially paralyzed in a 1986 auto accident, he has become a well known
advocate for people with disabilities. Read more about Russ' credentials here.
Greg Snider, a 1993 graduate of Towson State University with a B.S. in Business Management, is the "man behind the scenes." His passion for web development and the desire to empower the disabled community came together as a perfect match when Russ came to him with the DisabilityGuide.org idea. Read more about Greg here.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to use this website as a positive instrument to give the disabled community an accurate, complete and real-world resource to turn to for information, help, friendship, and encouragement.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to have the check-marked handicapped symbol shown below become a recognized standard that businesses will display on their storefronts to let disabled patrons know with assurance that the establishment is truly accessible.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
We personally visit every business and review the entire establishment for a variety of specific criteria. These reviews can be found under the review section of the website.
This website was not designed to slander businesses or other organizations that do not provide adequate accessiblity for the disabled. It is merely designed to give facts to help the disabled community make educated decisions about the businesses they would like to patronize.
